The Dana Brown Charitable Trust Awards Grant to Cardinal Ritter College Prep
The Dana Brown Charitable Trust recently awarded a $25,000 grant to Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School to enhance the school’s technology program. Cardinal Ritter Prep will purchase new computers and software to provide extensive training to the students using the most current technology available to prepare them for college and professional life. The Trust also provided significant funds in the early 2000s to help finance Cardinal Ritter Prep’s new school facility in the Grand Center area.
“The Dana Brown Charitable Trust is actively working to make the St. Louis region better for everyone. We are so grateful for the Trust’s continued support,” said Cardinal Ritter College Prep President Leon Henderson. “We believe this grant will help our students adapt more easily to new technological advances as they occur in the future.”
Dana Brown was a well-known personality in St. Louis due in part to his many appearances on television, representing Safari brand coffee and sharing his latest adventures while on safari in Africa. He was an extraordinary entrepreneur and philanthropist. Originally from West Virginia, Brown adopted St. Louis as his home and had a deep affection for the region and many of the institutions that have made this area great. Shortly before his death, Brown established the Dana Brown Charitable Trust. The Trust is a private, grant-making foundation established to benefit disadvantaged children, and further the causes of culture and zoology in the greater St. Louis metropolitan area.
Lela Rice and U.S. Bank, N.A. are the co-trustees of the Dana Brown Charitable Trust.
Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School has educated students from the entire St. Louis region for more than 25 years and opened a new, state-of-the-art school in Grand Center in 2003. For the past several years, all Cardinal Ritter Prep seniors graduated and were accepted to college.
